My Top 5 Books I Found From “BookTok”
Have you ever seen popular books and wondered if they were overrated or just not worth the hype? I know I have and that’s why I created a guide containing my Top 5 books I’ve found from the “booktok” community.
Shatter Me Series
OH MY GOODNESS! I cannot express the amount of love I have for this series. I read all of the books in one month and it was not enough whatsoever. The amount of twists and turns along with a sense of romance and adventure is the main selling point for me. This book is not in the same setting of our world, with the magic surrounding the plot and story. In this series people will get hurt emotionally and physically along with the enemies to lovers aspect inserted in the story line. If you love the sexual tension and adventure along with action then this series is definitely for you. There isn’t much sexual content unsuitable for ages under teen years.
My Favorite quotes from the “Shatter Me” series
- “But time exists beyond our finite comprehension. It’s endless, it exists outside of us; we cannot run out of it or lose track of it or find a way to hold onto it. Time goes on even when we do not.” – Unravel Me
- “I want to feel all of it because what if I wake up to find this phenomenon has passed, that the expiration date has arrived, that my chance came and went and would never return.” – Unravel Me
- “I’ve read her words so many times now that they feel like my own” – Unite Me
- “There’s a strange kind of freedom in the dark; a terrifying vulnerability we allow ourselves at exactly the wrong moment, tricked by the darkness into thinking it will keep our secrets. We forget that the blackness is not a blanket; we forget that the sun will soon rise. But in the moment, at least, we feel brave enough to say things we’d never say in the light.” – Ignite Me
- “I would not hurt so much, or hate so much, if I did not care” – Restore Me
- “Hatred so deep it might boil me alive.” – Defy Me
- “You realize that anger is safer than kindness, that isolation is safer than community” – Imagine Me
The Summer I Turned Pretty
Over this last summer I read all three books in just a couple of days, I could not put them down or even attempt to. If you’re struggling with healing there were moments that absolutely mended my heart. Don’t worry I’ll add quotes below but I have never felt such a connection to a book because it is so relatable for any young girl or teenager out there. If you’ve seen the series and want to know what happens next the third book is almost like a continuation of the second series 🙂
My Top 5 Favorite Quotes From “The Summer I Turned Pretty”
- “I release you. I evict you from my heart. Because if I don’t do it now, I never will.” – It’s Not Summer Without You
- “Now I didn’t know what to believe. I just knew I didn’t believe in him anymore.” – We’ll Always Have Summer
- ” I told myself, there’s nothing to feel guilty about, nothing happened. You didn’t do anything.” – We’ll Always Have Summer
- ” ‘I don’t know if I’ll ever get you out of my system, not completely. I have… this feeling. That you’ll always be there. Here.’ ” – We’ll Always Have Summer
- “So no, he didn’t give me flowers or candy. He gave me the moon and the stars. Infinity.” – We’ll Always Have Summer

Throne of Glass Series
After reading this series it is so apparent that Sarah J. Maas spent an endless amount of thought and consideration into these books. Throughout there are so many cliffhangers (especially at the end of books), questions that when they are answered lead to even more unanswerable questions, and moments I found myself blushing from the intimate moments created. There is so much banter between characters as well sexual tension roaming from person to person.
The Throne of Glass series takes place in a land called “Eritrea” with an abundance of kingdoms with fighting rulers. People will die, you will cry, and at the end of the day it is very difficult to remember is it “just a book”. There is a lot of violence and the murdering of people so if you are not comfortable with death then this may not be the book for you. There is an extreme amount of adventure and fantasy in this series, bringing you across oceans and deserts while still connecting to magical healers and fae across the world.
My Favorite Quotes From The “Throne of Glass” Series
- “He couldn’t help but thinking that they gazed down at her” – Throne of Glass
- “Still, the image haunted his dreams throughout the night: a lovely girl gazing at the stars, and the stars who gazed back” – Throne of Glass
if he had been with me
Taking place in the United States, this book tells the story of a young high school girl going through life with her friends and her best friend she is no longer very close with. If you decide to read this book be prepared to cry your eyes out for hours and think about it for months.
My Favorite Quote From “if he had been with me”
- “I love him in a way I cannot define, as if my love were an organ within my body that I could not live without yet could not pick out of an anatomy book”
The Inheritance Games
This book is definitely more PG compared to the “Throne of Glass” or “Shatter me” with small kiss scenes and nothing more. There is so much mystery coursing through the veins of this series, building a sense of wonder and questioning that can be so difficult to find in other books. I would definitely recommend this series for anyone wanting a read with no spice and to keep you on your toes at ALL times!
My Favorite Quotes From The “Inheritance Games” Series
- “The only person I trust with all that I am and all that I could be, Heiress, is you.” – The Final Gambit
- “It’s times like this, Heiress, that I wish I’d fallen in love with a girl who wasn’t so good at bluffing” – The Final Gambit
- “There are so many things that I will never say” – The Final Gambit
- “What is the human condition, if not Why me?”
- “Once you see that web of possibilities laid out in front of you, unencumbered by fear and pain and failure, by thoughts telling you what can and cannot, should and should not be done… What will you do with what you see?” – The Brother’s Hawthorne
- “and some of us like with each and every mistake we make carved into us, into hollow places we don’t know how to fill” – The Grandest Game
